Srinivasulu

Meet Srinivasulu. In 2016, an accident left him with a below-the-knee amputation. He felt depressed and even suicidal from being bedridden and unable to walk. His family, having become dependent on his wife’s income to carry them through this difficult time, was in desperate need.

Thankfully, Srinivasulu learned about EquallyAble’s mobility assistance program. By partnering with GoodWalk Orthotics Association, EquallyAble was able to provide Srinivasulu with a prosthetic leg that enabled him to return to work and provide for his family.

The amount of gratitude, joy, and hope instilled in Srinivasulu is beyond words. He is now living a full life running his own fruit stall and proudly providing for his family. Your contribution to EquallyAble turned a desperate situation into one filled with hope and dreams.

Prosthetics Changing fate

Srinivasulu, a 41-year-old resident of Lakshmipuram in Kurnool, lives with his family of five. In 2016, he was involved in an accident that left him unable to walk and confined to his home. This had a devastating impact on his mental health, and he became depressed due to his disability. At one point, he even contemplated suicide, feeling like a burden on his family. His wife was the sole breadwinner, and the family’s income was not enough to meet their basic needs.

However, Srinivasulu’s life took a positive turn after he learned about EquallyAble’s mobility aids and appliances program, which was implemented in partnership with the GoodWalk Orthotics Association (GWOA). Thanks to their support, he was able to receive a below-knee leg prosthesis, which gave him a new lease on life. With his mobility restored, he decided to sell fruits within his village to earn a living. He now makes around Rs. 300 to Rs. 400 per day (approximately USD $200 per month) from this venture.

The villagers have been extremely supportive of Srinivasulu’s new business, and he is grateful for their patronage. He is also thankful to EquallyAble and GWOA for providing him with the assistive device that has enabled him to regain his independence and livelihood. Srinivasulu’s family is no longer solely reliant on his wife’s income, and they are able to meet their basic needs more comfortably.

Overall, Srinivasulu’s story is a testament to the transformative power of assistive technology and the positive impact it can have on people’s lives. It is important to continue to support organizations like EquallyAble and GWOA that provide such valuable services to individuals with disabilities.
